Twinkle

It's 7:02am and I am the only one up. That never happens. I probably have like 5 more minutes before that will change. So I better write fast. The picture above is one of three pictures we took of Miles since his birthday. That must be a record of the least amount of pictures taken since his birth. And that is no indication that he is not worthy of the camera any longer. He continues to be one happy, smiley, two year old. He is starting to sing songs with me. He knows most of the words of the ABC song, parts of twinkle, twinkle, little star, and a couple of others as well. Hearing a two year old sing a song makes your day.

The last 6 weeks have been full of life and travel. Two times to Charleston (no pics) with everyone and once to LA for me. My first solo trip that wasn't related to work. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Ginny and Marie, the LA sun, waking up in the morning with absolutely no responsibilities or chores waiting. All we had to do is ask ourselves what we wanted to do. That mostly involved eating at a variety of LA restaurants, taking long walks, going to the beach, and eating some more.

It's 7:13am and Miles is up. I am glad that I can count this blog post to one of the things I wanted to do this weekend. Even though it's Monday morning.

Miles' 2nd Birthday

Finally, a little report about Miles' second birthday. The pictures are from his actual birthday and his little party a couple of days later. We invited a couple of friends from his day care and Faaris, who came all the way from DC. The weather the day of his party was gorgeous and perfect for a backyard celebration.

Swinging with Evie - they later fell down together but didn't seem to care.

Riding in the wagon together was a big hit.

Another big hit - the m&m's on his birthday cake!

Dads jamming on Miles' instruments.

His cake on his actual birthday.

Faaris is checking out the house.

With his pal Gracie from day care. On most days she is already at day care when we drop him off in the morning squealing for joy when Miles walks in.

Checking out his new easel.

Miles blew out both candles at once!

Remember his first birthday? Seems like yesterday, yet he is so different now.

from this afternoon

Miles right now:
  • wears shoes that seem too big for the rest of his body
  • bangs recently cut by me :)
  • ferocious eater
  • likes to help me wash dishes standing on his new kitchen stool
  • favorite foods include applesauce and yogurt
  • answers most of our questions with either "ok" or "ja"

We are one

Here is another one by the same duo. I just love it. We were listening to both of them all morning while getting ready for the day. Miles liked looking at all the kids. He kept saying "little boy," "little girl," "baby."

Sweet

This is the sweetest little song and video. I just found it on some other site. I love it and can't wait to show it to Miles tomorrow.  I think I will get him the CD  for his upcoming birthday. It keeps getting better the more I listen to it.

Lots of Snow!

We got a ton of snow Sunday night which brought us a much needed snow day on Monday. Of course I had a deadline to meet worked for half the day, but it was nevertheless a relaxing day. Something about snow makes everything feel quiet and calm. Nice. Miles enjoyed the snow for a short time until his hands become very cold. We just don't have the right snow clothes. We haven't seen this much snow here since five years!

We introduced Miles to Play-Doh! He had a lot of fun with it, almost as much as I did.....

The fire burned all day long and everything we did was in front of the fire. That has got to be one of the best things about winter.

Miles' new word: peacock!

He absolutely loves to look at pictures of animals, especially this book. It's even been educational for me!
